Uplaan presents its new features for this season: more digitalisation, greater efficiency and a better guest experience

Digitalisation in the hotel sector continues to evolve at great speed. Until now, having a guest app already represented a competitive advantage. Today, the market demands going one step further: eliminating friction, automating processes and offering increasingly seamless experiences for both guests and internal teams.


Over the past year, at Uplaan we have introduced new features designed precisely to respond to this evolution within the sector. Tools created to improve the guest experience, optimise day-to-day operations and open up new revenue opportunities for hotels.


These are some of the new features already available this season:


WebApp: instant access without the need for downloads


We know that downloading an app can be a barrier for more reluctant guests. Although many guests actively use the application during their stay, some hotels needed to reduce this barrier to access even further.


That is why we are introducing our new WebApp. The full potential of Uplaan (spa bookings, room service orders or activity registrations) is accessible instantly and directly from the browser.


This opens up new opportunities within the hotel itself thanks to strategically placed QR codes. For example, a guest can scan a QR code from their room to order room service, from the pool area to book activities or from reception to consult useful information.


New interactive map: smart real-time location


Navigating around a hotel or resort using a static PDF can be frustrating and impractical on mobile devices. Guests can now access a fully interactive map where they can see their real-time location, find restaurants, swimming pools, rooms or services, and obtain additional information about each point.


They can even generate routes within the property to move easily from one place to another, just as they would with any navigation app.

Mobile as a key and control centre: door access and smart automation

Mobile phones are no longer only used to check information or make bookings. They can now also become the hotel room key.


Thanks to integration with smart access systems, guests and staff can directly open room doors, main entrances or authorised areas from the app. This reduces dependence on physical key cards, prevents incidents related to lost or deactivated cards and greatly streamlines arrival processes.


Hotels are increasingly incorporating connected devices into their facilities, and this new functionality allows them to be integrated within Uplaan. From sensors to smoke detectors and other smart devices, the app can centralise alerts and information to improve the team’s response capacity and keep guests properly informed.


This enables teams to react more quickly to incidents, improve operational control and move towards a more connected and efficient hotel model.


24/7 Chatbot: your reception never sleeps


With the Uplaan chatbot, guests can receive instant answers to frequently asked questions without having to wait to be assisted by a member of staff. The tool also guides guests towards bookings, orders and available services.


The system also allows requests, bookings or contacts to be captured and escalated to the human team only when truly necessary.


This improves the guest experience by reducing response times, frees staff from repetitive tasks and turns every interaction into an opportunity to activate services and generate revenue.

Smart housekeeping management and task automation


Internal operations are also evolving with a feature especially useful for housekeeping teams.


Thanks to the two-way connection between Uplaan and the PMS, the cleaning status of each room or accommodation unit is automatically synchronised between both platforms.


This allows teams to consult, modify and update statuses from a single environment without duplicating processes. In addition, the system enables bulk updates of cleaning statuses, something particularly useful during periods of high check-in and check-out turnover.


The real leap forward lies in automation. When a room changes to “dirty” status, Uplaan can automatically generate a housekeeping task that is sent directly to the responsible team, streamlining operations and avoiding the need for staff to manually monitor every departure.


This is complemented by a highly useful feature for guests: the hotel can include a check-out button within the app so that guests can confirm when they leave their room. At that moment, the system automatically updates the status and activates the housekeeping task. And if a guest arrives before the scheduled check-in time, the hotel can send them an automatic notification as soon as their room is ready.


The result is a much more agile operation, better coordination between departments and a more comfortable experience for both staff and guests.

Dynamic stock management: greater control and new revenue opportunities


The products module has evolved to offer much more advanced management of rental items. Many hotels offer bicycles, premium towels, Balinese beds, sports equipment or wellness products, but managing them manually often leads to errors and limits revenue potential.


With the new dynamic stock system, each product can be configured with different pricing options, rental durations and deposit systems, including partial or full refunds. This makes it possible to professionalise rental management, improve inventory control and generate new revenue streams in a fully digital way.
